Are we plugging the Lincoln Electric Pro 140? Yes… Specs screenshot below… The 120 volt, 140 amp MIG Welder? That we are. Now, pricing has changed, market availability, all the non-sense… But we are sticking to what we’ve been recommended here. I would say we are ‘large stock newbies’ when it comes to welding anything. And I mean anything. Crazy right? So, the question, with anything new… What is the best product for a large variety of steel stock, what’s the cost, what’s the warranty? I mean literally we could go on for days… So, what would you recommend? We are putting something out there for your feedback? What say you?

The Ask: Welding both MIG and TIG, complimentary plasma cutter? (Mitre Saw review to follow) What is easier to use, stick welding or auto feed welders? We need it all!

We may try a new series on welding, mitre saws and power supplies, specifically for more cumbersome jobs, scaling up -electronics to heavy stock steals… probably third quarter ’22. Stay Tuned.

Clearly, OffRoad/Super OffRoad are one of the better NES/SNES games out there, same for the arcade game. This brings back ‘haunting memories’, some good, some bad. The reason why they were more ‘haunting’ was just trying to figure the game out as a newb-gamer back in the 80’s.

GT Racing fan? Trading up day, moving on from the traditional office/exec chair, like the current ergo-exec chair Serta Jennings – B/T Ergo Chair sitting in the office today. Today, we go racing! GT Racing is the gaming chair of choice, my choice moving forward. Pictures to follow once received. More specifically, the GTRacing GTX320-Black. Reviews look good, leather, good support, comfort like a car seat (personal selling point) – including height-adjustable arms, lumbar and headrest, and near 170° recline. Shipping is a few days out, bummer. However, the new chair will compliment the office space quite well.

The current setup here in the office includes a height-adjustable desk, which the title allows the desk to be raised and lowered with a manual paddle-like button… A more modern, Gaiam yogi-chair balance chair… but now I’m thinking, the longer sitting times might need a bit of an upgrade, that car-like seat for extended coding sessions and conference/phone calls. Coding sessions are a bit cumbersome, back pain included. So, it’s time for that upgrade.

Lasting Memories, Do you miss those days down on the farm, sharing smores, fishing, fireworks, campfires and stories by the lake?

Way, way back when, farm fires i.e. bonfires at the fire pit were a weekend treat. After a long week of hard work, sweat and dirt, a campfire by the lake was where we would be. Family, friends, most have come and gone… Remembering those days is just as important as looking ahead to the days we spend around a future fireplace, campfire, bonfire or firepit.

I wanted to do a throwback post about the days of past, only to quickly refocus that energy on the future, a future time with friends and family. In the new year, stay safe, be well and enjoy time with people you care about most. We thank those of you who support our efforts, our vision, our families. We will be bringing back 1fyr videos once the pool cage is complete… It’s been along time, some 8 months since our last video post to 1fyr.com. So, if it’s a campfire that brings back a memory (a fawn memory down on the farm); it did for us. Enjoy the New Year, be safe, be well. Happy New Year.

Thanks to @NES_Longplay for the walk-through/play-through. This was a late add, should’ve been out sometime in ’20… but, you know… today is the day it gets published to no fault of our own. Nor the scheduling mechanism.

To no avail, the stars aligned etc., Commando became reality. Game play is fantastic, painful long arduous process, leading to a never ending cycle of failed attempts. Unless of course you wait 20+ years, you’ve got yourself the ole’ map published on the web somewhere… and a cause of energy drink, coffee or tea. You might need a lot more, but let’s live big; in the moment. Believe you me, wish we had the map way back when. Although, have to admit, this game was one of those games that never ended… hence the need for walk-through. Commando is still on the list of ‘have not’s, meaning it’s still on the bucket list of games to dig up, play and complete the game. That’s where we live you today, 20 years in the making.

Puget Systems… ’nuff said (JK) as the kids would say. Seriously, if you haven’t heard about these guys… legit. Have a look at the recommendations for ‘software’ specific needs. We tend to gravitate to those machines curtailed for Adobe Premiere, Illustrator or Photoshop. Habitual I guess. The point here is simple, looking for the best? Here is the best, Puget Systems. I don’t want to go over board here but pricing can ultimately curb your decisions, but some decisions need to be made outside the box. Meaning if it’s your business, you need to the best. Best for the application, the user and the end user/customer. One of our favorites, check ’em out, Puget Systems.

EDC Camping Accessories – (UST) Ultimate Survival Technologies Blast Match Fire Starter – Have a look, take your pick; we did. WE MOST CERTAINLY USE THIS – UST BLASTMATCH. Looking for a last minute gift?

Used from time to time, even the times when we are sharing a beverage around the campfire. Although, campfires have been on hold, a winter hiatus if you will. But any case, these blast matches are fantastic in a pinch or in leisure as stated above. There are plenty of videos, product reviews out there, we want bore you with another ‘product plug’; but we will encourage you to have one handy. Nothing like plugging product that works.

Get your EDC – UST Blast Match. Take your time with the contraption, the rod can shift side-to-side when striking the intended surface that would cause a ‘shower of sparks’. Stick with it, it will be worth it, certainly more practical than a fire bow of sorts or empty lighter. Just for the record, we always tuck a few Bic lighters in various pockets of the camping pack and ‘wearable’ clothing. Again, typically there is a lighter on my person as a daily carry item. Some will tuck a lighter, some cotton balls, an EDC (every day carry) knife or camp knife. Key is to be prepared if you are camping, trekking, on-the-trail or stuck in a situation where you might need a light. Good luck.

There are other sites of course, secondhand via eBay, or specialty shop like Huckberry* which might have an extremely limited quantity and we haven’t seen it for awhile on the site. Upgrade your life, by limiting connectivity; what a concept? TT (Tiny Tech) Certified technology, running Android… in a small, easy-use case, clear text screen. Logic boards out of stock for this particular model, battery… second go around.

Received this back (LightPhone2 below) in Nov ’21, just unboxing it here in mid Dec ’21. Service is going to be an issue, but all the pieces work, turns on/off etc. Simple UI, simplified Android OS, once we get ‘service’ for this thing, look for an update. Update coming mid 1st quarter ’22.

What feels like many moons later, months of heads-down work, rework (more rework to fill time) and a little magic; VOILA! More stuff, stuff to read, view and whatever else you do on the interwebs. All coming your way mid ’21. Got some juicy StarWars stuff, sans – cartoons, one offs, Mandalorian, figures/toys/collectables and comic books. By the way, code is a fun thing… love Starwars, just check the source or is it “Use the Source!” Great holiday gifts include the Seinfeld series, power tools, hosting issues (boo on Hostgator, Blue host and Endurance).

While we are at it, need to build some Lego stuff, maybe crack open the RPi4 for some nonsense. GA(Google Analytics what?). Maybe some WordPress includes. Anyhow, you can find fire videos over on 1Fyr.com | mbemo.com. By the way, Mbemo already got hacked HA! F*$(#* SPAMMERS! Anyway, It’s back up, running… deleted a bunch of posts, forums and general whatnot. Resetting the system does the trick this time, cleaned up/purged all the ‘non-real’ peps using the boards. Future-self, perhaps can move some of these topics to the BB MBemo BB’s boards. Favorite part of ‘keeping up with the new’, focusing on the old or retro! Some new stuff coming this year. Anything from iPhone | Android game apps, tools and ‘hackery’. Some good, some bad, but most are ugly.

Apple MBP Battery and Logicboard Issues/Failure – We takedown, refresh and reboot this MBPBattery and Logic Board Failure – Complete teardown, replace and reboot.

Update, matter of fact, primary machine we are running that latest applications and code on. Quick update, mid ’18 Macbook Pro crashed via upgrade from Mojave/Catalina to BigSur. This ‘upgrade’ went along with the mid summer/late summer updates via WWDC. Anyway, we go through boot issues, kernel panic, reinstall post reformat MAC Journaled to AFPS… and finally installer packages, boot scripts, an install of Ubuntu 21 sans mouse or keyboard functionality and more. They say pictures are worth a thousands or more words, so let’s take a peek. Oh, and don’t forget ‘csrutil’ enable and disable for unwanted apps, native apps and clearing system integrity ‘issues’. This command only works when you run Recovery Mode, Terminal Utility… we can just leave that there for another day. One other item to note, this is all MacOS specific, assuming your running a MacOS alt OS on a Windows (PC), Linux, Linux Alternatives and/or VM, downloads are available and are similar when unpacking the root cause.

  • Flash Old Version of MacOS and Installer Package
  • Create USB Install via Terminal
  • Etcher
  • Check OS Version (if possible) MacOs Version Compatibility
  • Reset PRAM, Run Diagnostics, Internet Recovery, Target Disk to Move existing files; all there, just make sure you know what version of MacOS. If you don’t, click the ‘Apple’ Icon at the top/left -> Select About This Mac -> Overview. This assumes you have a running version of MacOS. Or check the Apple Product# on the underside of your Macbook Pro and work forward…
  • MacOS Startup KeyBoard Combinations
  • Diagnose Error Codes -1008F, Address Overheating and Fan Control
  • Apple Support thread specific to -1008f
  • Remove Device from iCloud – Find Device, Disable AFPS Admin Security Settings
  • Backup Drive to external storage device
  • Handy Drive SanDisk Drive
  • Clean/Remove Drive, Remove AFPS Drive/Volume(s)
  • Internet Recovery High Sierra, MacOS and Installer Package (Pre El Capitan, Yosemite or Lion)
  • MacOS Mojave
  • MacOS High Sierra
  • Boot MacOS Install, Reinstall Existing Apps, Install Catalina working patches, updates
  • Install New Apps, Settings and Remove unwanted settings as it relates to latest OS
  • Maintain existing MacOS sans MacOS OS Upgrades or Forced Updates, Uncheck installation automation for all apps, requiring system to be manually updated
  • Bootcamp Install, Flash/Install WIN10, Throw-out old server (Z400)
  • ISOs – MS – WIN10.iso, Ubuntu – Ubuntu 21.10
  • With the addition of MacOS Server

Key takeaways, note make/model, year, shipped quarter, chipset(s) and chip security settings… if your computer is locked, check iCloud device status, remember install package pre/post logic board changes. We chose this routs since all logic boards for this particular machine have been out of stock and remain out of stock for this particular model… hmmm wonder why? No need to replace the battery just yet… may have to on the second go around.

When I get a chance, we will post a few pictures of WIN10 running in Boot Camp, Ubuntu 21 running with keyboard or mouse support, and other images for MacOS Server etc. As usual leave a comment below, let us know what you’re thinking?

When’s the last time you played Dogeminer 2? Dogeminer? Not forcing you to play Dogeminer v2(maybe because I don’t need more people on the Doge servers)! But, we are saying you should play Doge or Doge 2… Gone are the days of app crashing, progress or game loss. The best part of this particular game, is the ability to save a downloadable file for another day. Better screenshots next time! These Dogeminer v2 should do for now. Mentioned a few weeks back, almost seems more than a month ago now… we have a few things ‘on the bench’ i.e. work bench; burmpy.com and our R Programming deep dive.

No need to equip the pitchforks for this Burmese Python. As our educational series goes, we want to add Python and R to the mix. These two languages are ‘on the bench’ now, meaning we are adding to the site every day. One of which, both will be available via our Github site “borg2borg” – burmPy and RProject. Caveat, ((good news)) we’ve started to convert burmPy to it’s future ‘home’ in our educational series burmpy.com. This entity will also carry on the TWBS Bootstrap test case, using Bootstrap v.5. So, more to come on that in the coming weeks/months. Keep your eyes pealed.

More pictures are coming, please excuse the mess… shifting a our Github code and ghists are always available, unfortunately, working in the background to finish Burmpy screenshots, cleaned up and prepped for consumption.

Back in the day, late 90’s ‘we’ (I) would spend hours creating the best ascii art there was to offer. Days of the past, I know. But still, fun while it lasted. Here’s a listing of all the characters and binary codes to make your next pic of ASCII artwork. Don’t be shy, don’t keep your ASCII art to oneself!

Oh, and before I forget, we aren’t talking about ‘ascii’ generator artwork… we are talking the good, the bad and the unusual character art. My personal fav is the local “Skunk Ape”, “Grassman” or “Alien ‘Big Foot’ Hunter”. Just a few I recall from back in the day. Rules were broken below when ‘creating’ these ascii images. ((SHOUT OUT)) to the artist who converted these TUX and Dwight images to ASCII. The TUX ‘piece’ may need to find it’s way onto a t-shirt or hat.

Oracle VBox – Virtual Appliances

Oracle Virtual Box, get it now… assuming you’ve not run into a time when you needed a system other than the one you might be using, stuck with or have issues running native apps.

VirtualBox is a great place to start. Make sure you scope out the latest and greatest virtualized products… Ideally, it’s a great ‘virtual’ appliance to have around the old shop, run VDI’s – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure or ISO – Copy (of the) Optical Disc Image. Stumbled across an article about this prior as I’ve written about this before, when testing other OS, OS Variants, Solutions, Drone Flight sims, Flight Configs etc. Believe you me, this Virtual Box stuff comes in handy when testing for just about any and all compute/browser combinations. In our case, we like the Oracle product for non Windows needs, Boot Camp covers Windows environments pretty well. We will cover those another time, but for now check out this handy https://virtualboxes.org/images/ link for OS options. Your choice – BSD, Fedora, Linux Varietals and more. REMEMBER DO YOUR HOMEWORK, check what’s there, it may take many, many, many try(s) to get this stuff to work in an optimal fashion but you’ll get it soon enough. Testing is key, Donate where you can!

A few other notes, I’m sure you have your own process, but we use Virtual Box for lots of stuff*… testing, games, browser ‘wars’, IoT stuff* and more stuff*. Below you will find a few screenshots of Virtual Box and MS Remote Desktop. The goal was to cover as many systems, device varieties, OS images and tools… Always remember, just have fun. Next, please note, since the screenshots were taken/shared, we’ve added Virtual Box to MacOs, running a litany of ISOs. Those can be found here, included for your convenience! We certainly enjoy using this method for just about anything. Last point, these virtual environments can be used for IoT testing (please see posting Debian Buster) starting with the Ubuntu IoT ISOs.
